ADJD info
ADJD non-Muslim wills, explained.
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) operates the official non-Muslim wills register for the UAE. A will registered with the ADJD is recognised across all seven emirates and supersedes default Sharia-based inheritance for your UAE-based assets — bank accounts, property, vehicles, business interests, and personal possessions.
ADJD registration gives you legal certainty: your assets pass to the people you choose, your guardianship wishes for minor children are respected, and your executor is empowered to act quickly — often avoiding the costly account freezes that can otherwise follow a death.
Heirloom handles the full ADJD process for you: drafting, certified Arabic translation, government fees, and notary registration. Standard registration (included on every plan) typically takes 4–8 weeks through ADJD's regular queue. Fast-track registration — included on Concierge or available as a AED 1,550 add-on (passed through to the court at cost) — uses ADJD's expedited service and completes in 3–7 business days.
